Snorkeling Channel Islands

Jo, our kayak guide, was so knowledgeable and friendly and made our first sea kayaking experience very enjoyable. We came to this tour prepared to go home cold and soggy in our own cotton clothes because we didn’t think to bring a towel, but the Channel Islands Adventure Co actually provided wetsuits and a spray jacket and a helmet (and of course a PFD) for all kayakers! They clean the wetsuits in between uses and everything seemed well organized and efficient.

What a unique and fun experience! Clay was our guide for the Discovery Caves Tour and we loved him! He educated us on cave kayaking safety, ocean flora and creatures, native culture, and more! We explored many caves and got to see 8 seals! Highly recommend! If you’re a hiker too, make sure you leave time to hike the ridge over to potato cove! You might even seen whales in the distance while hiking like we did!

A guided kayak tour has to be one of the best day-trips to take to Channel Islands National Park! We got to paddle through a number of costal sea caves and see a variety of sea life. They made it easy to plan the trip by buying our ferry tickets for us and providing detailed packing guidance. Would highly recommend!

Jerry was a fantastic kayak guide. He was very observant and attentive and made sure we were having a good time. 9:30am was the start time but we didn’t really get onto the water until 10:30. The water started out calm but there were definitely rough waters that were hard to paddle through. There are plenty of picnic benches for eating lunch afterwards and the rest of the crew were very friendly and helpful. One of the drawbacks was the group size. We had 8 or 9 kayaks all together so it was difficult for everyone to stick together, especially in the rougher waters. By the time the last kayak would get to the meeting spot or cave, it was time for all of us to leave

We came over on 2/6/25 and met our guide Chuck. The man had a wealth of experience. We learned a great deal from him about the island, the rock formations, varied wildlife, the caves and best way to navigate efficiently. Toward the end of our time together the conditions deteriorated dramatically. Chuck was calm and made sure our group all got back safely. We had looked forward to this adventure because the previous day’s tour was cancelled due to weather. Our expectations were absolutely exceeded. Thank you for a memorable experience 💜
