Better than expected. From the train ride to the live music and atmosphere. Dogs are welcome for an extra fee of $10.95. Well worth the money! Whether you spend an hour or three it’s a nice relaxing escape to enjoy the redwoods. We will definitely being doing this again

Charming experience, but a bit overpriced We took the scenic train ride in Fort Bragg, and overall, it was a unique and enjoyable experience — especially for kids! The ride offers both indoor seating and an open-air car where you can stand and take in the beautiful forest views. One of the highlights for the little ones was watching the railroad crossings close as the train passed — very exciting for them! The whole experience lasts about 1.5 hours. The train ride itself is around 15–20 minutes each way. In between, there’s a 45-minute stop at a lovely forest location with a stunning and easy trail (about 0.9 miles) — perfect for families and young kids. On the return trip, most people just sit and enjoy the scenery again, as the train goes back the same way. The atmosphere at the station is very charming — staff dressed in classic conductor uniforms, a small gift shop, and a bit of that magical, nostalgic vibe. 🚂 The downside? The price. We paid over $150 for four people, and honestly, the ride felt too short and slow to justify that. While the scenery is beautiful, you can also walk a similar trail alongside the tracks for free. If you’ve never ridden a train before, it might feel more special. But if you’re expecting something longer or more immersive, this might feel underwhelming — especially when comparing it to other train rides in California (like one near San Francisco with steam and real smoke, which costs just $4 per person). That said, if you’re looking for a relaxing, family-friendly outing with lovely views and a touch of storybook charm — it’s still worth a try. Just go in with the right expectations.

I also had an amazing drink at the Glen Blair bar. i ordered a hot mulled wine that is really tasty and great for the cold foggy weather

So much fun!!! A little pricey for the Railbike but we decided to go for it and had a really great experience time! Eric was a fantastic guide on our journey with great energy and lots of fun jokes. He lead a 1 mile hike once at the half way point and you could tell he really cares about that forest. Would highly recommend

Wonderful staff and on board live entertainment! Plenty of good snacks and drinks for purchase, including fresh popcorn. The train was full of history with space inside and an open air standing space in the caboose. The train ride is essentially just that without much to look at, especially in the beginning of the ride through town. The trees are lovely and the history of the small camp is memorable. My granddaughters were 8&9 years old and gave it a 6/10 score. I think the party train would be a hoot though!
